Deep Discharging NiMH LSD Cells
Does deep discharging harm NiMH cells? To find out I ran a test.
I took two Panasonic eneloop AAA cells, labeled one Test and the other Control.
I kept charging both on OPUS BT-C700 at 700 mA and
- kept deep discharging the Test cell by draining it below 0.9V in ASTROLUX A01 flashlight overnight
- kept discharging the Control cell with OPUS BT-C700 to 0.9V and let the voltage recover overnight
Every 5 cycles I measured the capacity (TEST function) and internal resistance (QUICK TEST function) of both cells on OPUS BT-C700.
Here is how the cells performed.
Conclusion: Deep discharging Panasonic eneloop AAA cells causes their internal resistance rise 2 times quicker.
